Therapy for adults who learned to hold everything together

Depth-oriented, relational therapy for adults navigating family complexity, cultural identity tension, anxiety, and burnout.

You might be here because something feels heavy.

Even if you can’t fully explain it.

Maybe you were the one your family relied on: the steady one, the responsible one.

You learned to stay quiet or put your needs last to keep the peace.

You’ve often felt like you have one foot in and one foot out, never fully belonging.

Maybe you question your judgment after years of being gaslit or emotionally dismissed

Maybe you struggle to feel safe or at ease in relationships or friendships

You hold things together on the outside, while inside you feel anxious, disconnected, or worn down.

You understand your patterns. You can trace them back.

And still, they keep showing up, especially in relationships or in the quiet moments at night.

If any of this resonates, you’re in the right place.

Over time, these patterns can show up as anxiety, burnout, people pleasing, or a constant sense of internal tension.

If this feels familiar, there is nothing wrong with you.

These are learned survival strategies, and they can be gently unlearned.

Meet Elena White, LMFT

I’m Elena White (she her), a licensed psychotherapist based in Los Angeles. I am a multiracial woman with deep roots in this city, including family ties to the displaced Chavez Ravine community.

I understand the weight of carrying intergenerational pain while being expected to keep moving forward as if nothing happened. My work is shaped by lived experience, clinical training, and a deep belief that healing happens in relationship, through safety, presence, and care.

This Work May Be a Good Fit If You:

Feel like you have always been too much or not enough

Grew up needing to be the strong one

Carry intergenerational or cultural expectations

Are navigating peri or menopause and a shifting sense of self

Want depth, not surface level coping tools

You are allowed to slow down.

A space to stop performing.

Therapy here is a place to slow down, listen inward, and understand what shaped you, without pressure to fix, explain, or hold it all together.

Here is what you can expect when we work together

What is therapy with you like?

Therapy with me is relational, depth oriented, and trauma aware.

Our work is not about fixing you. It is about understanding how your nervous system learned to adapt and creating more safety in being yourself.

Sessions are a place where you do not have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or hold it all together.

Many people come in unsure if anything can really shift

What can change over time?

Over time this work can help you:

➤ Feel less anxious and overwhelmed
➤ Navigate relationships with more clarity and confidence
➤ Set boundaries without guilt
➤ Trust your inner sense of knowing
➤ Feel more at home in yourself

Understanding is part of the work, but it is not where it ends.

What will we actually work on?

Together, we may explore:

➤ Early relationships and attachment patterns

➤ Family and cultural dynamics that shaped your sense of self

➤ How your nervous system learned to survive and stay safe

➤ Emotional and relational patterns that no longer feel aligned

We also pay attention to what your body is communicating in the present moment.

Some of the work is about letting go.

What do I get to stop doing?

You get to stop:

➤ Shrinking yourself to keep the peace

➤ Over explaining your needs

➤ Carrying everything on your own

➤ Questioning your reality or instincts

You get to take up space, gently and in your own way.
